Free global social media insights – from Global Web Index

Nice tool – the “lite” version of the new Global Web Index:

How it works (source: Global Web Index)

You can select country, gender, age bands and an attitudinal outlook (if you want). The attitudes we predefined for demonstration purposes are based on the people who agree with the following questions:

- Risk taker: “I like to take risks”
- Informers: “I regularly inform friends and family on new products and services”
- Positives: “I feel positive about the global economy”
- Strivers: “I’m always striving to achieve more in life”
- Premium Lovers: “I tend to buy the premium version of the product”
- Internationals: “It is important to stay in touch with what is going on in the world”
- Thrill seeker: “I like to pursue a life of challenge, novelty and change”

Once you define your audience you can analyse them against 3 key areas and against the country average:

- Motivations for getting online:
What do online consumers consider to be “very motivating”. This question covers all reasons for getting online, but look out for social motivations, such as “staying in touch with friends”, “sharing content” or “promoting myself”
- Social media behaviour:
What online consumers have done in the last month online. There are also non social behaviours in there for comparison. In the main research we also cover lapsed usage and non involvement
- Brands in social media:
Which kind of social marketing communications “improve the opinion of a brand” in the eyes of consumers. Again there are non social executions for comparison

FIFA WORLDCUP 2010: More advertising

The battle for brand awareness is not limited in the internet and television. The big sponsors are also advertising directly in the cities. Nike and Coca-Cola for example with huge installations in Johannesburg.

This is Coca-Cola`s “cratefan” in Newtown Park. The sculpture is made of 2.500 bottle crates, weighs 25 tons, and is 54 feet tall.

And here is Nike`s “ballman” in the Carlton Shopping Centre, made of 3.000 footballs.

Viral: Nokia football (foosball) spot

It´s almost all about football these days. There are the big advertising campaigns of the official FIFA partners and equipment suppliers (f.ex. the Nike and adidas-spots), but also a lot of other brands who wants to get emotionalized by the world-event.
A nice idea to interpret this is the table soccer spot of Nokia. Maybe a little bit too long I think. But good idea with the “trick-navigation” at the end of the YouTube-video and the links to the detail-spots.

Viral 3D-video catalogue from Jay Jays

Great new site of Jay Jays, a discount fashion retailer in Australia.

Bild 1

On the page the new collection is presented in dance-videos. To get informations about the clothes the dancers are wearing, you just have to do a snapshot: The video will freeze and productdetails will appear.

Bild 5

There have been some interactive video-presentings like this so far, for example the one from Diesel to present their spring/summer-collection 2010.

I think the one from Jay Jays has a better usability. Plus: the videos are made with 3D-technique. What is another viral trigger. And a connection to the POS, where you get the free 3D-glasses.

Giant Bugs!

With the right concept beamer projections are still a good idea for promoting a product and getting local awareness. Spreading a video and information about it in the internet will generate a bigger reach via blog-articles etc. Good idea for Black Flag insecticides.

FIFA WORLDCUP 2010: Nike vs. adidas (and the rest)

In a few days the FIFA Worldcup 2010 is starting. One battle is on the field, another in the internet, television and in print-ads.

The biggest players so far: Nike and adidas.
Who will win this video-battle? A few weeks ago I would have said Nike is leading…but Franz Beckenbauer, Oasis and Snoop Dogg in a Star Wars-scene is really a big story:
