In the recent past movies had been number one media products. Big budgets, millions income and making tons of money by merchandising. From the T-Shirt to the movie, to the game to the movie. But things have changed! Gaming is taking over! Still Hollywood blockbusters are leading the race, but what happened the last few years is amazing!
It started with the first movies to games – like f.ex. Tomb Raider. And it seems like merchandising is getting the new big market for games. Recently I found more and more Angry Birds stuff.

I really like the idea how the game is changing. Isn´t it all about storytelling and heros we like – for what reason ever?! Wouldn´t we all love to go to a Super Mario Pizza place? Wouldn´t we all love to watch a Pac Man horror movie in 3D? And how about a gaming company as a mobile services provider with a gaming flatrate included?
All this is also a great opportunity for us marketing guys. Thinking cross-medial and out of the box will create some new and very innovative projects I guess. Browsing on Pinterest for “Star Wars” is showing how big and everlasting a movie and its characters can get.
